The Carleton A. Friday Memorial Library, located in New Richmond, WI, is actively recruiting for the position of Library Director. We seek a story-teller: someone who will fill the next chapters of our journey with leadership, dignity, respect and innovation built on a foundation of teamwork and communication. As the lead character of the chapters that follow, your creativity and energy must be focused on cultivating leadership within our dedicated staff while promoting the need for a new library in our capital campaign. Effective communication and problem solving are key attributes for this new character and telling the story is critical.
The pages of our story include a dedicated staff of thirteen full-time and part-time employees, amazing programming and the opportunity to join a team that is committed to transforming our library one patron at a time. This non-fictional journey begins with an understanding of our foundation which is built upon the importance of literacy within our community of 8,909 residents and over 12,000 patrons. The impact that our community library has on place making, learning and the wonders that lie in the endless pages that fill our shelves inspires those who work here and our patrons who visit our library daily. Minimum Qualifications:
Responsibilities- The Library Director reports to a 7-member Board of Trustees and is responsible for the overall management of the library. Essential duties will include team and leadership building of our library staff, assistance with capital campaign work for a new library (approval for the site location was completed in 2017), building and maintaining our collections, managing the library budget, promoting the library within our community and working with all departments as a “team lead” within the City of New Richmond.
Qualifications- Candidates must be eligible for Wisconsin Grade I certification within one year of hire. Library experience is preferred, however those with overall management, team building and leadership experience at all levels are strongly encouraged to apply.
