The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction’s Division for Libraries and Technology (DLT), with support from the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), is offering a limited number of scholarships to attend the Research Institute for Public Libraries (RIPL) from July 12-15, 2020, at the Eaglewood Resort & Spa in Itasca, IL (NW Chicago suburbs). Please note this opportunity (funded by DLT) is distinct from the scholarship opportunity for small, rural libraries (RIPL-funded) that was sent to eligible public library directors last month. DLT RIPL scholarships will cover event registration ($1,300 value) that includes curriculum and materials, three nights lodging, and all institute meals. In addition, travel expenditures to the event (e.g., mileage or airfare, meals, and lodging) within allowable limits will be reimbursed to scholarship recipients.
All public library staff (all positions – supervisor permission required) in all Wisconsin public libraries who have never attended RIPL are eligible to apply for a DLT scholarship. The DLT RIPL scholarship application form is due by the end of the day Friday, January 17, 2020. Because the scholarship application is a Google Form that cannot be saved, DLT encourages applicants to draft their responses in this RIPL scholarship form template and then copy and paste your responses into the online form.
DLT staff will promptly review the scholarships we receive using the RIPL Scoring Rubric and Additional Considerations and inform applicants if their application is initially approved for a DPI scholarship award. If the applicant is not approved for a scholarship award, that library staff member will still have the opportunity to register for the institute at full price starting on February 3, 2020. If you applied for the RIPL-offered scholarship opportunities announced in October, you may also apply for this DLT scholarship opportunity. You may only receive a DLT scholarship if you are not selected to receive a RIPL-funded scholarship.
