Manitowoc Public Library Youth Services Department is currently accepting applications for a creative, energetic, and innovative Youth Services Teen Associate. This position plays a dynamic role as a part of our Youth Services team, planning and leading inventive tween/teen programs, conducting outreach to middle and high schools to promote library services, and providing excellent customer service to patrons of all ages. Candidates should be outgoing and in touch with current popular culture, forward-thinking, technologically savvy, and committed to excellent customer service. This position is 29 hours per week and may be scheduled to work any hours the library is open for business (i.e. weekdays, evenings, Saturday and Sunday).
Candidate must possess knowledge of developmental, recreational and educational needs of young adults, the ability to translate young adult needs and interests into effective library services and programs, and knowledge of current trends in library services for and with young adults. An ideal candidate will demonstrate a proven record of strong communication, creativity, time management, and detail orientated skills. Preferred candidates will have a zest for youth services and programming. Provides a variety of specialized library related services, including but not limited to program development and delivery, customers support and guidance in the use of library resources, collection development and maintenance and outreach and public relations services.
A Bachelor’s degree in any discipline which provides the necessary skills and abilities is required. Prior work experience in a position with similar duties and responsibilities desirable. Preference given to candidates possessing library experience, an education background or actively pursuing an education major.
