What is the Summer Math Adventure?
The Wisconsin Mathematics Council develops an annual summer math program that public libraries can offer to their patrons. This program is designed to keep young learners engaged with the joy of mathematics all year long!
Based on past participant feedback, WVLS has modified the original 25-activity program into a 12-activities program for each age group, aligning more closely with summer reading activities and simplifying participation.

How the Summer Math Adventure Works
Patrons can complete the program independently as a self-directed activity. Some libraries may also choose to offer programs or activities that align with math activities outlined in the booklets.
Each age group’s summer adventure has 12 math activities arranged in a grid.
- After completing four activities, the patron earns an award.
- Awards are selected and provided by the participating library.
- Activities may be completed in any order.
- Patrons who complete all 12 activities may earn a bonus award, also selected and provided by the library.
